Hadi Mohamad Abu Rasheed, Scientific Advisor at the Qatar Cancer Society and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Doha for Science and Technology, shared a post by MENA Coalition for HPV Elimination on LinkedIn, adding:
“As someone who has been part of the MENA Coalition for HPV Elimination since its beginning, I am truly encouraged to see this important conversation taking place.
HPV prevention is not only a technical or clinical priority. It is a public health, advocacy, and equity issue. Across the MENA region, we still have significant opportunities to strengthen HPV vaccination, improve awareness, expand screening and early detection, and reduce the stigma that continues to surround HPV and cervical cancer.
What makes this webinar especially important is its focus on patient voices and lived experience. Policies, programs, and awareness efforts become stronger, more relevant, and more trusted when they are shaped with the meaningful engagement of people affected by cervical cancer and HPV-related diseases.
A patient-centered and people-centered approach is essential if we want prevention efforts to truly reach communities, address fears and misconceptions, support informed decision-making, and move the conversation from stigma to openness, trust, and action.
I strongly believe in the role of HPV vaccination as a powerful tool to prevent HPV-related cancers, and I remain deeply committed to advancing the goal of HPV elimination in our region. Elevating lived experiences is not symbolic; it is a catalyst for changing narratives, building trust, influencing policy, and accelerating progress.
Looking forward to this timely and much-needed discussion with colleagues, advocates, civil society partners, patient representatives, and public health leaders working toward a future where HPV-related cancers are prevented across MENA.
