“It was not so long ago. But for my first paper I published in 1993, the access to statistical programs (the hospital had even very few computers) was quite impossible in post hyper-inflation times in Argentina.
Yesterday I found this note I used for that paper to calculate the Kaplan-Meier curve manually that our statistician gave me.
Really tedious (more than 100 patients) and luckily my brother was a mathematician, but I have not forgotten the methodology and rationale thanks to that.
Then you had to use a software to create the curve. The paper came out in JCO.”
