Gonzalo López-Cuevas, Founding President of Cancer Warriors of Mexico, Treasurer at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), Professor at the UNAM, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Images from last Wednesday during an official visit to the recently inaugurated Women’s Oncology Hospital of Mexico City, held at the invitation of local Congresswoman Valeria Cruz Flores, Congressman Víctor Hugo Lobo Román, and authorities from IMSS-Bienestar led by our friend Dr. Jesús Ortiz Ramírez.
I had the opportunity to attend alongside members of our FUNSAMEX team, including Fernando Peregrina Martínez and Diego Zarazua Abascal, to learn more about this important new healthcare infrastructure initiative promoted by Mexican President, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
This new specialized institution is expected to provide comprehensive care for nearly 500,000 women annually through an integrated model focused on prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and patient support.
Beyond the hospital infrastructure itself, this project represents something fundamental: when a country invests in public health, it also invests in dignity, access to care, and opportunities for life for thousands of patients and families.
With an investment of 221 million pesos, this new hospital strengthens the public healthcare system’s response capacity for cancer and reinforces a more specialized, comprehensive, and timely model of care for women in Mexico City.
Healthcare infrastructure also saves lives.”
