Gonzalo López-Cuevas, Founding President of Cancer Warriors of Mexico, Treasurer at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), Professor at the UNAM, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Professor at the UNAM.
With gratitude and great pride, I am honored to share that I was officially appointed, during a formal ceremony at the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as Professor of Human Rights for the 2026–2029 term, thus becoming part of Mexico’s highest house of studies.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Javier Romo Michaud, President of the College of Professors of Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law of UNAM, as well as to Dr. Jaime Miguel Moreno Caravilla, friend and professor at the Faculty of Law, for their invitation, trust and support throughout this process.
In the official appointment document, Dr. Romo states:
‘This appointment recognizes a trajectory dedicated to promoting humanism and advancing improvements in public policies and legislative frameworks, with the purpose of expanding the scope of human rights, particularly in the field of health. Likewise, it represents the commitment to continue contributing to the construction of fairer institutions at the service of society.’
Within this context, I also had the opportunity to deliver my first keynote lecture for law students, entitled:
‘The Right to Health and Cancer: How Legislation Can Transform Access, Care and Outcomes in Mexico.’
A space for reflection on the role of law as a tool to generate real impact in people’s lives.
I thank the Faculty of Law of UNAM for opening this academic space and reiterate my commitment to contributing, through teaching, to the education of new generations with a legal, social and human-centered vision.
