Global Colon Cancer Association shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Health equity in colorectal cancer care is about more than treatment. It is about access, dignity, and support at every step.
Through GCCA’s CRC Health Equity Grant, Kenya Ostomy Association is helping close critical gaps for people living with colorectal cancer in Kenya, from late diagnosis and limited access to stoma supplies to the lack of structured psychosocial support.
Key impact highlights from the project:
- Reached 1,250+ patients and ostomates across 8 counties
- Delivered community awareness sessions and stoma supply support
- Hosted psychosocial forums for patients, caregivers, and clinicians
- Trained 45 survivors in digital advocacy, launching
The End Colorectal Cancer Ke campaign, reaching 50,000+ people.
This is a powerful example of integrated, community-led care combining education, psychosocial support, and advocacy to drive systems change.
How can health systems better embed this kind of community-led model into routine colorectal cancer care?”
