Global Colon Cancer Association shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Ontario’s decision to lower the colorectal cancer screening age from 50 to 45 marks a major victory for patients, advocates, clinicians, and organizations who have spent years pushing for change.
Starting July 1, 2026, more than one million additional Ontarians will gain access to potentially life-saving screening services.
This progress sends a powerful message: advocacy can change policy and policy can save lives.
At Global Colon Cancer Association, we are proud to stand alongside our Canadian members, Colorectal Cancer Canada and CCRAN, whose tireless leadership and advocacy have helped drive momentum around earlier screening and awareness of early-onset colorectal cancer across Canada.
As rates of colorectal cancer continue to rise in younger adults, this decision reflects what can happen when patient voices, evidence, and advocacy come together to push for meaningful public health action.
We congratulate everyone involved in this important milestone and encourage continued efforts to ensure equitable access to early detection and screening across all regions of Canada.
