Global Colon Cancer Association shared a post on LinkedIn:
“You’re a guinea pig.”
“You’ll just get a placebo.”
“It’s only for patients who’ve run out of options.”
These are among the most persistent misconceptions about clinical trial participation – and they remain a significant barrier to enrollment.
At the Global Colon Cancer Association (GCCA), our Clinical Trial Awareness program addresses these myths directly. The reality is that every clinical trial undergoes independent ethics review before enrollment begins, placebos are rarely used in cancer trials and never replace standard treatment, and clinical trial participation should be discussed early in the treatment process, not as a last option.
When patients and caregivers have accurate information, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions about their care.
This is Part 1 of our myth-busting series. Part 2 coming soon.”
