Giuseppe Banna, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am pleased to share our latest review in Nature Reviews Urology : “A multi-modal approach for decision making in bladder cancer“.
Bladder cancer management is at a critical turning point. Despite white-light cystoscopy remaining the gold standard, its limitations – such as the risk of missing flat lesions and significant interobserver variability – necessitate the integration of more advanced, objective technologies.
In this comprehensive review, we explore how a unified multimodal framework can transform patient outcomes by integrating:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to cystoscopy and digital pathology to enhance diagnostic precision.
Advanced Imaging (Blue-light cystoscopy, Narrow-band imaging, and mpMRI) to improve staging and reduce recurrence.
Genomics and Urinary Biomarkers for personalized risk stratification and therapy selection.
By moving toward these integrated decision-making algorithms, we can advance precision oncology, ensuring each patient receives the most effective, tailored treatment plan.
