Giorgio Bogani, Gynecologic Oncologist at National Cancer Institute (IRCCS), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
“New Insights into POLE-Mutated Endometrial Cancer with Nodal Involvement
POLE-mutated endometrial cancer has excellent outcomes.
But what happens when these patients also have positive lymph nodes?
In a recent multi-center retrospective study, we analyzed cases of POLE-mutated endometrial cancer with nodal metastases, ranging from isolated tumor cells to macro-metastases.
Almost all patients received adjuvant therapy, tailored to their molecular and pathological risk. These early results reinforce the excellent short-term prognosis for POLE-mutated cases, even in stage IIIC disease. However, it’s important to note that this study does not support omitting adjuvant therapy at this stage.”
