Gillian Ryan, Lung Cancer Patient Advocate at White Ribbon for Lung Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’m delighted to be in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the LiveLung Advocacy Academy.
This evening was our welcome dinner and meet and greet a chance to meet fellow advocates, clinicians, researchers, and leaders from across the lung cancer community. If first impressions are anything to go by, I have no doubt the next few days are going to be incredibly inspiring.
From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel so welcome.
I was immediately put at ease, embraced by people who share the same passion for improving outcomes for everyone affected by lung cancer. It’s amazing how quickly complete strangers can feel like old friends. I honestly don’t think I’ve laughed so much with people I’d only just met.
The next few days are packed with opportunities to learn, grow, collaborate, and build connections that I know will strengthen my advocacy back home in Ireland.
I’m also incredibly proud and privileged to be the only Irish advocate attending this year’s Academy. It’s an honour to represent Ireland, share experiences, and bring home new ideas that can help drive meaningful change for lung cancer.”
