Gilberto Lopes, Chief, Division of Medical Oncology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“A second great reason to spend the day at the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus!
Our 4th Miami Translational and Clinical Oncology Symposium, organized by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
One of the most exciting aspects of working in academic oncology is bringing together scientists and clinicians who approach cancer from different perspectives but share the same goal: developing better treatments for our patients.
Today’s program spans fundamental cancer biology, tumor microenvironment, immunotherapy, mechanisms of resistance, and emerging therapeutic strategies.
It is particularly rewarding to see our University of Miami investigators exchanging ideas with outstanding colleagues from institutions across the country.
The distance between a discovery in the laboratory and a new treatment in the clinic is bridged by translational research.
And meetings like this help build those bridges – through new ideas, collaborations, and conversations that may eventually lead to the next clinical trial or therapeutic breakthrough.
Congratulations to the organizers, speakers, and everyone at Sylvester who made this fourth edition possible!”
To which Justin Taylor, Founder at STARX Therapeutics Inc, added:
“Great reason!
Fantastic set of speakers at the 4th Annual TCO Symposium!
And our lab’s MD/PhD student Erica Lamkin, M.Sc. took home a poster!”
