“Robotic surgery can change the way we operate.

But not what we need to preserve.

In Amsterdam, a hands – on experience on single – port robotic mastectomy, together with international colleagues.

Technology can give us new levels of precision, vision, and control.

But the more technological surgery becomes, the more essential it becomes to know, respect and preserve anatomy.

Because a mastectomy isn’t just about what we remove.

It also concerns what, when oncologically possible, we choose to preserve:

Anatomical planes. Fabrics. Vascularization. Skin. Nipple – areola complex.

Because preserving anatomy correctly means creating the conditions for a natural, harmonious breast reconstruction that respects body proportions.

It’s the same philosophy behind our recent editorial on ‘Anatomical Mastectomy,’ published in ‘Gland Surgery.’

Technology and anatomy must work together.

Because innovating, for me, does not simply mean doing more.

It means treating better, preserving more.”
