Gianluca Franceschini, Full Professor of General Surgery and Director of the Master’s Program in Integrated Therapies for Female Oncological Pathologies at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Precision Medicine is only truly effective if it is inclusive!
We had the honor of hosting, at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, Prof. Olufunmilayo (Funmi) Olopade of the University of Chicago for the ‘Faculty Reading’, a cycle promoted by the Dean Prof. Alessandro Sgambato.
Special thanks to Prof. Emilio Bria for organizing the meeting and inviting me, and to Prof. Giampaolo Tortora for his precious participation. It was a privilege for me to introduce Prof. Olopade with them.
His talk on hereditary breast cancer and global genomics reminded us of a fundamental point: Precision medicine only works if it is representative of all populations.
A scientific message, but also an invitation to cultural and social responsibility. Let’s work together to build an increasingly inclusive precision senology!
