“Today marks a major milestone for the MMRF’s Immune Atlas project with a new publication in Nature Cancer on the heels of another in Blood Cancer Discovery just weeks earlier.
When the MMRF launched this initiative in 2019, we knew that understanding myeloma’s complexity required scale, so we brought together five academic medical centers to dissect the immune system and tumor interactions across hundreds of myeloma patients. These new results describe >1.3 million cells from 337 newly diagnosed cases plus 100 more with sequential samples, providing the first comprehensive atlas of this immune neighborhood as well as associations with patient survival.
We’re grateful to our institutional partners at Emory University, Beth Israel Deaconess, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mayo Clinic, and the patients who made this work possible. We look forward to insights still to come from sharing this groundbreaking dataset. This is collaborative, patient-centered research at its finest. ”
