George Mark Children’s House shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We are proud to share that our very own Dr. Justin Baker, board member at George Mark and a leading voice in pediatric palliative care, was recently featured on Episode 9 of The Pitt Podcast, the official companion to HBO Max’s hit show The Pitt.
With just a few episodes left in the season, this conversation feels especially timely. Hosted by culture writer Hunter Harris and Dr. Alok Patel of Stanford Children’s Health, the podcast explores both the on-screen drama and the real-world medicine behind the series.
In this episode, Dr. Baker brings clarity to some of the most complex questions in care. He describes bioethics as ‘having to make real life decisions with families who are faced with impossible questions,’ and reminds us that ‘we’re trying to think of what’s the most right thing to do… in the middle of all bad choices.’
He also speaks to the global impact of pain management, noting that ‘we here in the United States have driven opiophobia all over the world,’ a reflection on how fear can limit access to care where it is needed most.
At its core, this conversation is a powerful reminder that pediatric palliative care is not just about end of life, but about quality of life for every child and family.
We are incredibly proud to see one of our own helping bring this message to a broader audience.
