Gaurav Shah: The Second Chapter of Genetic Medicine

Gaurav Shah, CEO at Rocket Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RCKT), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was a great honor to sit between two former collaborators in a group of science and industry giants on a genetic medicine panel at BIO International Convention in San Diego earlier this week! It was both a homecoming and a new exploration.

Thank you to Ryan Cross Endpoints News for moderating such a thoughtful discussion on In Vivo HSC Engineering for One-Time Genetic Medicines, and to my fellow panelists: Jim Burns, David Barrett, Stephan Grupp, and Hans-Peter Kiem at FRED HUTCHINSON CANCER RESEARCH for an engaging conversation on where genetic medicine is headed next.

One theme stood out: we have entered the second chapter of genetic medicine. The first chapter proved that one-time genetic medicines can transform patients’ lives. The next chapter is about scale and how we make these therapies accessible to every patient who could benefit.

This next chapter will require more than scientific innovation. It will depend on advances in manufacturing, delivery, regulatory science, reimbursement, and the operational excellence needed to bring these therapies to patients consistently and globally. Scientific breakthroughs create possibility. Execution creates impact.

I remain optimistic about what lies ahead, not only because of the science, but because of the collective commitment across our field to turn transformative innovation into standard care for patients.”
