Françoise Meunier, Founder of the European Initiative on Ending Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, shared on LinkedIn:
“Two days until the Right to Be Forgotten takes centre stage in Brussels.
I am very pleased to share the final programme of our High-Level Conference,’The Right to Be Forgotten as a Human Right’, taking place on 21 October 2026 at the Fondation Universitaire in Brussels. The programme reflects the many dimensions of this debate.
I am honoured to have Minister Robert Troy, Minister of State at the Department of Finance in Ireland, who will deliver the keynote address. Ireland has recently become the latest country to adopt statutory protection for cancer survivors under the Right to Be Forgotten, marking another important step forward in Europe. His contribution will bring an important policy perspective to a day dedicated to advancing fairer and more consistent protection for cancer survivors across Europe.
I am deeply grateful to all the survivors, experts, policymakers, clinicians, lawyers and advocates who will contribute their experience and expertise throughout the day. The aim is to identify what still needs to change so that a past cancer diagnosis no longer determines a person’s access to insurance or the possibility of moving forward with their life.
In two days, we will turn our shared ambition for equal rights for cancer survivors throughout Europe into a concrete discussion on what must come next.
Time: 21 October 2026
