Françoise Meunier: Advancing the Right to Be Forgotten for Cancer Survivors

Françoise Meunier, Vice President of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, shared on LinkedIn:

“I am delighted to announce that, on 21 October 2026 in Brussels, I will organise a full day High-Level Conference on Ending Financial Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, at the Fondation Universitaire.

Associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026 and co-organised with Mark Lawler, the conference will bring together leading voices from across Europe to accelerate action on the Right to be forgotten for cancer survivors and advance the recognition that life after cancer is not only a health policy issue, but also a question of equality, dignity and fundamental human rights.

Since France first introduced the Right To Be Forgotten for cancer survivors in 2016, 10 other EU Member States and Monaco have introduced legal protections for cancer survivors, with Ireland the latest country to take this important step. Against this backdrop, the conference being held under the auspices of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union carries particular significance to continue building momentum. Legislative processes are nearing completion in Luxembourg, while political momentum is growing in Poland, Czechia and Germany.

Be part of the momentum and register now.

Participation is free of charge, with attendance confirmed following registration.

More information on the programme and speakers will follow soon.

This conference is supported by Fonds Cancer (FOCA).”
