Françoise Meunier: The Possibility of a Concrete Legal Strategy to End Financial Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors

Françoise Meunier, Vice President of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, and Founder of the European Initiative on Ending Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I want to sincerely thank and congratulate the fantastic group of students from the ULB University – Iseult Demeuse, Deniz Kavak, Lidia Nicolas, Júlia Ntumba Picamal, and Antonia Wibaut – as well as their supervisor, Prof. Isabelle Rorive from the Equality Law Clinic, for their exceptional work on their Master Thesis in Public and International Law: ‘Ensuring The Right To Be Forgotten For Cancer Survivors: Legal Recourse Towards EU-level Recognition.”

Their research highlights the possibility of a concrete legal strategy to end financial discrimination against cancer survivors, with a particular focus in Finland. Notably, they outline the potential for a collective complaint before the European Committee of Social Rights against Finland, aiming to accelerate binding legislative progress, an essential step to enable cancer survivors to rebuild their lives free from unjust financial burdens.
