“Daad Abighanem, a FightCRC Ambassador and Research Advocate, was just 48 when she was diagnosed with stage IV RectalCancer.
After the screening age was lowered from 50 to 45, she scheduled her first routine colonoscopy — and that decision led to her diagnosis. Daad shares that she owes her life to the research that made earlier screening possible.
Today, she continues to use her voice to raise awareness about early detection, surveillance, biomarker testing, and clinical trials, while advocating for survivors to have a permanent seat at the decision-making table.
Her message to Congress says it best: ‘Research funding saves lives and is crucial to develop accessible CRC screening and treatment options.’
