Fatma Bektash, Head of the Patient Education Unit at the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center, National Cancer Institute, Cairo, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Meaningful patient advocacy is built through collaboration, shared vision, and collective action.
I am honored to have contributed as a co-author to a research abstract accepted for e-poster presentation policy track at the ESMO Congress 2026.
Title: Scaling Patient Advocacy in Breast Cancer Care: A Needs-Informed Public – Academic Implementation Model in Upper Egypt.
This work highlights how collaboration between academia, healthcare authorities, healthcare professionals, and industry partners can strengthen patient advocacy and create sustainable, patient-centered models of care. Expanding patient advocacy requires more than individual initiatives. It requires partnerships that translate shared goals into meaningful impact for patients and their families.
My sincere appreciation goes to Dr Emad Shash for his leadership and vision, Dr Radwa Emam and all our co-authors from the Egypt Healthcare Authority, as well as Dr Effat Khalifa and Dr Marina Fares from Novartis, for their dedication, collaboration, and shared commitment to advancing patient advocacy in breast cancer care.
Finally, my deepest gratitude goes to the patients and patient advocates whose experiences, voices, and trust inspired this work. Their willingness to share their needs and perspectives is the foundation of meaningful patient advocacy and the driving force behind our commitment to improving cancer care.”
