Fatma Bektash: Valuable Insights and Collaboration at BGO 2025

Fatma Bektash, Head of the Patient Education Unit at the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center, National Cancer Institute,Cairo, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I was delighted to take part in the annual National Cancer Institute ConferenceBridging Gaps in Oncology (BGO 2025) in Cairo, Egypt.

Our session explored one of the most timely and thought-provoking topics in modern healthcare ‘Patient Education and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Oncology’.

I had the pleasure of leading an interactive live poll that captured the audience’s perspectives on how patients use AI for health-related information, their trust in these tools, and their readiness for responsible digital health education.

This was followed by a dynamic panel discussion bringing together key stakeholders from academia, pharma companies, healthcare, technology, civil society, and patient advocacy. Together, we discussed how AI can empower rather than mislead, and how to ensure ethical, safe, and culturally relevant use of digital health tools in patient care.

Grateful to all participants and panelists for their valuable insights and collaboration.

Such multidisciplinary conversations truly embody the spirit of ‘Bridging Gaps in Oncology.'”
