Faizan Bashir: How Well CT Scans Predict R0 Resection in Pancreatic Cancer After Neoadjuvant Therapy

Faizan Bashir, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We looked at how well CT scans predict R0 resection in pancreatic cancer after neoadjuvant therapy (like FOLFIRINOX).

A sensitivity of 50% and AUC of 0.69 suggests we should be cautious about relying on CT alone when making resection decisions in this patient population, and that a more comprehensive preoperative workup is warranted. Grateful to our amazing co-authors for this collaboration.

These findings potentially suggest that the limitation might not just be accuracy, but also inconsistency, future studies should aim to clarify which patients CT works for and where it systematically underperforms to better guide selective use.”
