Fagr Aboumadawy, Clinical Fellow at European School of Oncology, shared on LinkedIn:
“ESMO is always about science, innovation, and the exciting progress we make in oncology.
But for me, it is also about something just as meaningful: reconnecting with familiar faces who make the world feel a little smaller and a lot more like home.
Beyond the scientific sessions, inspiring discussions, and exchange of ideas, there is something truly special about meeting people who have become part of your journey, people who, despite the miles and borders between us, make you feel at home away from home.
A special note of gratitude to IEO team, Professor Giuseppe Curigliano , and Dr. Dario Trapani for reminding me that the true value of international collaboration extends beyond science, it lies in the people we meet, the relationships we build, and the sense of belonging we find across borders.
Leaving ESMO reminded me that the impact of a congress goes far beyond what we learn in lecture halls.
Sometimes, the most valuable takeaways are the conversations, the reunions, and the feeling that, no matter where we are in the world, we can find people who feel like home.
Here’s to science without borders, meaningful connections, and the beautiful people who make this journey worthwhile.”
