Evis Sala, Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Albania, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the 11th anual World Cancer Series Europe 2026, organised by The Economist Economist Enterprise – Insights I highlighted:
“Achieving equity in cancer care requires more than innovation, it requires access.”
Across Europe, survival should not depend on where a patient lives. Our focus must be on strengthening health systems, expanding early diagnosis, improving access to treatment, and ensuring that every patient benefits from scientific progress.
Albania is advancing a comprehensive cancer reform through the establishment of a National Cancer Institute, decentralisation of oncology services, digital transformation and alignment with EU standards. Equity in cancer care is ultimately about delivering faster, more coordinated and patient-centred care for all.”
