ECAC5 Unveils 14 New Recommendations for Cancer Prevention – European Cancer Organisation

European Cancer Organisation (ECO) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A new milestone for cancer prevention.

The new European Code Against Cancer (ECAC5) introduces 14 policy recommendations to reduce the risk of cancer. What should member states do?

Lung cancer screening is now officially recommended. Countries are urged to introduce low-dose CT (LDCT) screening for people at high risk.
Continue to implement and enforce the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control through higher taxation, smoke-free legislation, plain packaging, and support for cessation services.
HPV vaccination is now recommended for both girls and boys.
Introduce fiscal and regulatory measures to encourage healthier eating patterns and limit processed foods high in fat, sugar, and salt.
Enforce labelling regulations that clearly communicate alcohol-related cancer risks.
Harmonise and enforce policies to protect people from exposure to UV radiation.

The European Cancer Organisation applauds the recent advances in ECAC5.
