Sad Day for Cardiology Across the Globe: Loss of the Legendary Eugene Braunwald

Robert Harrington, Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean at Weill Cornell Medicine and Provost for Medical Affairs at Cornell University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today is such a sad day for cardiology across the globe with the loss of the legendary cardiologist Eugene Braunwald, who I met when I was a research fellow at Duke University Health System’s Heart Center. I had privilege to collaborate with him on many clinical trials and American Heart Association activities.

Tonight, I am reflecting on an incredibly memorable day in October 2018 when Eugene Braunwald came as visiting professor to give medical grand rounds when I was chair at Stanford Department of Medicine. The best part was he met my daughter Mackenzie who was in grad school for the Physician Assistant program at the time, and he was amazing talking with her. He was always kind and generous with his time. Later that evening, we had an unforgettable dinner with my dear colleagues and friends, Joseph, Eugene Braunwald and Eric.

Eugene Braunwald was an extraordinary man who taught us so much. God bless.”
