“Fresh off an intensive and inspiring Board Strategy Retreat!
Following our official change of presidency in May 2026, the ESTRO leadership team and office gathered from Thursday to Saturday in Bologna, Italy, to transform our long-term vision into an actionable roadmap for the next two years.
Guided by our President, Barbara Jereczek-Fossa, and building upon the incredible foundation laid during Matthias Guckenberger’s presidency, we focused our discussions on three interconnected pillars:
- Professional Empowerment – Ensuring radiation oncology professionals are structurally recognised, valued, and positioned as experts in multidisciplinary cancer care.
- Global Outreach – Expanding ESTRO’s impact, establishing global references, and collaborating across international borders to address equity and access to radiotherapy worldwide.
- Strategic Communication – Championing the under-recognised value of radiotherapy and demystifying our discipline to effectively reach our diverse audiences—including patients, healthcare professionals, key stakeholders, policymakers, and the general public.
The outcomes of these stimulating sessions will be shared in the coming weeks as we finalize the details of our strategic plan.
