Estelamari Rodriguez, Associate Director of Community Outreach and Co-Lead Thoracic Site Disease Group of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, shared a post by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center on LinkedIn, adding:
“As the science of precision medicine advances so does this conference, honored to have served as co-chair of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center 3rd Biennial Precision Medicine and Patient Symposium.
Grateful for all the speakers and advocates and patients who joined us in person and virtually.”
Quoting Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center‘s post:
“As precision oncology becomes an increasingly defining feature of modern cancer care, clinicians, researchers, patients and patient advocates convened in Miami for our 3rd Biennial Miami Precision Medicine Conference to examine how molecular and data-driven tools are reshaping clinical practice.
The two-day meeting brought together national and international experts to explore how precision medicine is informing decision-making across prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
‘Precision medicine has moved beyond proof of concept,’ said Dr. Carmen Julia Calfa, conference program director.
‘The challenge now is ensuring these tools are applied thoughtfully and consistently so scientific advances translate into meaningful clinical benefit.’
The conference’s scientific program examined how advances in germline and genomic testing, next-generation sequencing, liquid biopsies, multi-omics platforms and artificial intelligence are refining tumor classification, informing therapeutic selection and shaping clinical trial enrollment strategies.
Our concurrent patient and advocate track explored the real-world impact of precision medicine, from genetic risk assessment to clinical trial participation and survivorship planning. The focus was clear: as care becomes more personalized, informed patient engagement becomes essential.
The takeaway: precision medicine is no longer emerging, it’s actively reshaping how cancer is understood and treated, bringing both opportunity and complexity. Learn more.
