ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology shared a post on LinkedIn:
“ESMO GI 2026: Support for circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) profiling to personalise treatments and predict OS benefits in mCRC is suggested by two Clinical Trials.
In the phase III BREAKWATER study, patients in the encorafenib plus cetuximab and mFOLFOX6 arm experienced OS benefits versus control, and this arm also had fewer end-of-treatment acquired resistance alterations. In a second study, patients with molecular residual disease (MRD)-negative tumours experienced prolonged OS without clear benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy.
Manuel Salto-Tellez comments on the findings in the ESMO Daily Reporter: Could more complex molecular analysis aid biomarker-driven clinical management of poor-prognosis colorectal cancer?”
