Erika Hamilton, Chair, Executive Committee, Breast and Breast Program Lead at Sarah Cannon Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Christmas as an Oncologist!
Christmas in oncology is never just a holiday on the calendar.
It’s conversations that don’t pause for December.
It’s patients showing up anyway — between family dinners and radiation schedules.
It’s quiet moments of gratitude, grief, hope, and resilience that all seem to coexist this time of year.
I’m continually humbled by the courage of the patients and families we care for — and deeply grateful for the teams I work alongside every day at Sarah Cannon Research Institute and SCRI Oncology Partners. The nurses, advanced practice providers, research teams, pharmacists, research coordinators, and physicians who bring compassion and excellence to work even when the world feels heavy.
This season is a reminder of why we do this work — to meet patients where they are, to bring innovation closer to home, and to care deeply even when outcomes are uncertain.
Wishing peace, rest, and moments of joy to colleagues, patients, caregivers, and families everywhere this Christmas. Thank you for trusting us with your care — it is never taken lightly.”
