Eric Small, 2025-26 ASCO President, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am excited to share the next installment in my Science Matters series. In this series, conversations with members of our ASCO community will showcase how scientific discovery drives real-world change – a concept at the heart of my presidential theme, The Science and Practice of Translation: Improving Cancer Outcomes Worldwide.
It’s an honor to feature my colleague, Jo Chien, medical director of breast medical oncology at UCSF, in the first interview of this series. Dr. Chien is a talented breast medical oncologist and clinical investigator with a fierce commitment to individualizing treatment in line with cancer-specific biological characteristics. I’m also thrilled to collaborate with her as she chairs the ASCO26 Scientific Program Committee.
In this interview, she offers her perspective on translating scientific discoveries into meaningful progress for patients. I hope you take inspiration from her story! More interviews to come each month from across our amazingly talented, passionate, and diverse society.”
