“Today, Denis Lacombe, EORTC CEO, met with EU Health Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi to underline the essential role of independent clinical cancer research in Europe.
With major regulatory initiatives underway, including the Biotech Act and the European Health Data Space, we emphasised the need for policies that enable treatment optimisation research and safeguard patient‑centred, sustainable cancer care.
“Independent clinical research is at stake in Europe. It is important to inform decision makers about the challenges but also about possible solutions. Optimising the use of therapeutic interventions is very important for ensuring the sustainability of our health systems but also patients’ access to efficient treatment,”
