Emmanouil Saloustros: 8th ESO in Thessaloniki Confirms The Growing Prestige of Greek Oncology

Emmanouil Saloustros, President of the Board of Directors ΕΟΠΕ – HeSMO and Associate Professor of Oncology at University of Thessaly, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was with great pleasure and pride that we completed the 8th Hellenic Congress of Oncology in Thessaloniki, a Congress that confirmed the dynamics, extroversion and scientific prestige of the Greek oncology community.

The 8th ESO recorded a record number of 1,114 registrations, with the participation of health professionals from many different specialties and young colleagues, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in the treatment of cancer.

The days of the Conference were characterized by intense scientific discussions, high-level presentations and substantial dialogue on modern therapeutic developments, innovation, and the major health policy challenges in oncology.

Particularly important was the extremely strong presence of the pharmaceutical industry, with a large number of satellite symposia. This participation confirms that progress in oncology requires substantial collaborations between the scientific community, the state, and industry, with the common goal of innovation, sustainability, and most importantly, improving patient access to modern treatments.

As President of ΕΟΠΕ – HeSMO, I would like to warmly thank all the participants, speakers, scientific committees, partners, sponsors, and of course the Hellenic Society of Radiation Oncology for our long-standing and substantial cooperation.

Progress in oncology requires knowledge, collaboration, participation, and a shared vision. The 8th ESO proved that the Greek oncology community can make a decisive contribution to this course.”
