Emad Shash, General Manager at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Proud to share our newly published article in the Journal of Cancer Education.
This publication highlights a message that is central to high-quality oncology care: patient education is not simply an added service, it is an essential part of supportive cancer care.
Our study found that better disease and treatment-related information was associated with greater perceived usefulness of patient education, and that greater perceived usefulness was significantly associated with lower anxiety levels among breast cancer patients. These findings reinforce the importance of clear, tailored, patient-centered education in helping patients understand their disease, navigate treatment, and cope with uncertainty.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Fatma Bektash for her dedication, persistence, and outstanding work throughout this research. Her commitment to patient education, scientific rigor, and improving the patient experience was central to bringing this publication to life.
Grateful as well to Dr. Reem Eid and collaborators who contributed to this important work.
May this publication support continued efforts to strengthen patient education, improve communication, and enhance psychological well-being in breast cancer care.”
