Emad Shash: Cairo University Team Recognized at ESMO Breast Cancer in Berlin

Emad Shash, General Manager at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, Member Board of Trustees at The National Alliance for Civil Development Work, President at Egyptian Gynaecological Oncology Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“With immense pride and gratitude, I am sharing this recognition by Cairo University of the research activity of our team, during the participation at ESMO Breast Cancer in Berlin.

Having 8 scientific abstracts accepted and presented at this important international congress, and receiving the Best Scientific Research Award in the Supportive Care and Survivorship track for one of our studies, is a truly proud moment for all of us.

Yet, the value of this achievement goes beyond the award itself.

It reflects a growing culture of practice-changing research within routine clinical care. It also shows how we can develop, implement, evaluate, and share models that improve the breast cancer patient journey through patient education, patient navigation, clinical pharmacy, psychological support, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

This achievement was never the result of individual effort. It was the outcome of a dedicated team that believes excellent cancer care is not only about treatment but also about access, communication, education, support, dignity, and continuity of care.

I am honored to acknowledge the impressive team behind this work: Zeinab Abdelwhab, Esraa Abdelfattah Salah Eldin, Esraa Islam Ahmed Haider, Basma Mohamed Abdallah Nasr, Marwa Hussein, Alia Khaled Zein El-Abedeen, Ghada Emam, Reem Eid, Mona Elhosary, Fatema Alaa, Engy Maher, Rania Saeed, Julia Fangary, Nada Abo El-Kheir, Fatma Bektash, Maram Montaser, Kholoud Reda, Jakline Safwat, Nourhan Adel, Rana Elshewy, Yomna Khalil, Lamis Hossam helmy, Omnia Korani, Nourhan Mohamed Abdallah, Meritte Maher Morris, Heba Adel El-Assasy, Olivia Ibrahim Samy Tawfik, Fatimah Mamdouh Mostafa, Rasha Mahmoud Allam, Mahitab Ibrahim El-Tohamy, Heba El-Zawahry.

My sincere thanks to the leadership of Cairo University, Prof. Mohamed Samra, and everyone who continues to support applied, patient-centered research at the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center.

Most importantly, my deepest gratitude goes to our patients and their families. Their needs, voices, and experiences remain the true driver behind every research idea, every service improvement, and every effort to make the breast cancer journey clearer, safer, and more humane.”
