Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Reflecting on an exceptional ESMO Breast Cancer Congress 2026 in Berlin.
This year was truly special for our group at the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center, National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. We were honored to have six abstracts accepted and presented, reflecting months of hard work, dedication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to improving the breast cancer patient journey.
Our presented work covered real-world outcomes, digital medication education, psychological distress, endocrine therapy-related survivorship symptoms, patient navigation, and readiness for AI-based health tools. We were especially privileged that one of our abstracts, ‘Feasibility and acceptability of a QR-based digital medication education tool integrated with pharmacist counseling for breast cancer patients,‘ was awarded Best Poster in the Supportive Care and Survivorship track.
Seeing this work also highlighted among the ESMO Breast Cancer Congress takeaways was a deeply meaningful recognition for the whole team.
My sincere thanks to the ESMO Breast Cancer scientific committee for recognizing our work and to the ESMO highlight presenter Prof. Antonio Di Meglio for featuring it among the congress’s take-home messages. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our patients and their families. Their voices, needs, and lived experiences are the reason we continue to build, evaluate, and refine models of care that go beyond treatment alone.
Grateful to all co-authors and collaborators: Zeinab Abdelwhab, Esraa Abd El Fattah, Esraa Haider, Basma Nasr, Marwa Hussein, Alia Abdelsalam, Ghada Emam, Reem Eid, Kholoud Reda, SAP User, Fatma Bektash, Maram Montaser, Jakline Safwat, Nourhan Mahran, Yomna Khalil, Rana Elshewy, Lamis Hossam helmy, Fatma Mohamed Abdelkarim, Hayam Mousa, Nouran Omar, Mona Elhosary, Fatema Alaa, Engy Maher, Rania Said, Julia Rostom, Nada Abou El-Kheir, Alaa Ibrahim, Ahmed elsayed, M.S. ESMO Breast 2026 was not only a scientific milestone but also a source of inspiration. The discussions, networking, and exchange of ideas opened new directions for future studies focused on patient education, navigation, survivorship, digital tools, psychological support, and real-world implementation in LMIC settings.
Proud of the team. Grateful for the recognition. Motivated for what comes next.”
