Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cervical cancer is still claiming far too many women’s lives across Africa – yet we know that when care is organized, timely, and truly multidisciplinary, outcomes can be very different.
That’s why I’m really happy to be moderating the upcoming CancerWISE – CJC AFRICA Cervical Cancer Virtual Tumor Board on the Multidisciplinary Management of Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer.
Together, we’ll walk through a real-life case from three angles:
- Systemic therapy – my role will be to kick off with how we approach systemic treatment in locally advanced disease, including practical questions we all face in daily practice.
- Radiation therapy – led by Munir Awol, sharing insights from Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
- Surgery – led by Basel Refky, bringing the surgical oncology perspective from Mansoura University, Egypt.
The session will start with a short pre-event poll to hear from participants, and we’ll keep it interactive with Q&A after each segment and a post-event quiz (with points collected for reward purposes) to consolidate learning.
I’m honored to share this virtual board with an excellent pan-African faculty:
- Chinenye Iwuji – Consultant Medical Oncology, Lakeshore Cancer Center, Lagos, Nigeria
- Khadija Warfa – Consultant Gynecologic Oncology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya
- Nwamaka Lasebikan Lasebikan – Consultant Clinical Oncology, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, Nigeria
- Thomas Konney – Consultant Gynecologic Oncology, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, Ghana
- Munir Awol – Consultant Clinical Oncology, Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- Basel Refky – Professor of Surgical Oncology, Mansoura University, Egypt
