From Awareness to Informed Decisions in the Breast Cancer Pathway – ELLOK

Hellenic Cancer Federation – ELLOK shared a post on LinkedIn:

“From awareness to understanding. From information to informed decisions.

Yesterday, at the All.Can Global Dialogues in Brussels, we took a moment to Think Pink during the reception.

Today (14/10), on European Cancer Literacy Day, we share this photograph to carry forward a message that ran through the day’s discussions: person-centred cancer care must put people in a position to understand their options and participate in decisions about their care.

In particular, the session ‘Beyond Awareness: From Information to Decision in the Breast Cancer Pathway‘ brought the question of cancer literacy into focus. What matters is not simply whether information is available, but whether people can understand it and use it at the moments when decisions matter most.

Cancer literacy is part of meaningful participation, better care experiences and health systems that respond to the needs of the people they serve.

At the ELLOK, we believe that the voices and experiences of people affected by cancer must remain central to this conversation.

Because awareness is a starting point. Understanding makes participation possible.

Thank you to our colleagues at All.Can International and everyone who contributed to yesterday’s dialogue.”
