Elizabeth Mittendorf: I Had the Incredible Experience of Running the NYC Marathon

Elizabeth Mittendorf, Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, shared on LinkedIn:

“What a day! Yesterday, I had the incredible experience of running the NYC Marathon. Beautiful weather, amazing crowds, and the opportunity to run for a cause close to my heart – The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Over the past several months, I’ve been sharing reflections on the importance of teams as part of my American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Presidential theme, ‘Intentional Teams. Exceptional Care.’ This weekend was another powerful reminder of what makes teams so special.

The BCRF team brought together runners from across the country, each with a personal connection to breast cancer and a shared commitment to making a difference. For months, we all trained, encouraged one another, celebrated milestones, and offered support through the inevitable challenges of preparing for a marathon.

We may each have run our own 26.2 miles yesterday, but none of us got to the starting line alone.”
