“It was a privilege to represent American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) alongside Julie Gralow our Chief Medical Officer and, Douglas Pyle VP of the ASCO Center for Global Impact, at the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress.
During my plenary talk, ‘Where Are We Going? Breakthroughs and the Future of Cancer Care,’ I reflected on how rapidly science is advancing. Yet, no matter how fast our scientific progress moves, it means little if we cannot translate evidence into real-world access, hope, and healing for every patient.
Throughout the congress, it was inspiring to hear about the incredible work happening across different countries and regions. These regional efforts highlight a powerful opportunity: learning from one another’s successes and building new partnerships to bridge the gaps between research labs, community hospitals, and district clinics worldwide.
This collaborative effort sits at the heart of my ASCO Presidential theme: Intentional Teams. Exceptional Care.
Translating scientific advances into equitable patient care requires intentionally built, collaborative teams working toward a shared purpose.
Thank you to the UICC leadership, our ASCO delegation, and our global oncology colleagues for an inspiring congress marked by sharing, learning, and laying the groundwork for future collaboration to address the global burden of cancer.”
