“Every two minutes, a woman dies from cervical cancer. And in most cases, it didn’t have to happen.
Most people have never heard of HPV (Human Papillomavirus), yet it is the leading cause of cervical cancer, responsible for over 95% of cases globally.
HPV is actually one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the world – and in 90% of cases, the body clears it on its own. But when high-risk strains persist, they can silently cause cervical cancer over 10-15 years, often without any symptoms.
The hard truth? Over 90% of cervical cancer deaths occur in low and middle income countries, places where access to screening and vaccination remains deeply unequal.
The Good News: this is one of the most preventable and treatable cancers when caught early. Screening works. Treatment works.
So today, we’re asking you to do something small but powerful: tell the women in your life – your mother, your sister, your aunt, your friend – that cervical cancer screening could save her life.
Knowledge is the first line of defense.”
