“Exciting News from the Elekta Foundation!
At the Elekta Annual General Meeting, Cecilia Wikström, Chair of the Elekta Foundation, presented the incredible work and achievements of the foundation. Our mission to increase access to cancer care, with a special focus on women’s health, is rapidly becoming a reality.
Since its inception, the Elekta Foundation has co-designed a model for the prevention and screening of cervical and breast cancer. By focusing on capacity building of health staff and collaborating with partners, over 300,000 women has been screened for cervical cancer and over 230,000 women for breast cancer. Nearly 6,000 women have received treatment for cancer. This has been achieved through a constant focus on innovation, the introduction of state-of-the-art technology, and inspiring leadership which has also halved the cost per woman.
Every life saved impacts not only the woman but her entire family and community. Thanks to our efforts, many children now have healthy mothers.
Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our work together with existing and new partners and continue delivering on Mission2027.
Imagine the elimination of cervical cancer in Rwanda by 2027. Will it be Sweden or Rwanda that achieves this first?
Let’s make a positive impact together.”
