“Advancing Global Oncology through Strategic Collaboration.
Reflecting on a monumental week! Last week, I had the distinct honor of serving on the Organizing Committee for three pivotal conferences: Breast Gynecological & Immunooncology International Cancer Conference-BGICC, Onco-Broncho, and IGILUC. Beyond the scientific excellence showcased, these events served as a vital platform for high-level diplomacy aimed at bridging the gap between global commitments and regional impact.
Representing the Egyptian Cancer Society (ECS), I had the privilege of participating in several pivotal high-level meetings:
Global Leadership: Joined the Global Cancer Organizations Presidents Session alongside leaders from the WHO, IARC, IAEA, ASCO, ESMO, and UICC to discuss turning global mandates into local results.
Economic Impact
Participated in the World Economic Forum’s Global Alliance for Women’s Health session, highlighting Egypt’s breast cancer care as a “lighthouse model” for LMICs.
Policy in Action
Contributed to the WHO High-Level Workshop on implementing the “Cairo Call to Action.”
Strengthening Ties
We successfully held strategic meetings to explore deep collaborations with American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), WIN Consortium in cancer personalized medicine, Chinese anti-cancer association (CACA), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the Arab/Africa Alliance with IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization.
Formalizing Partnerships
I am thrilled to share that we solidified our commitment to progress through 3 key MoUs with: 1. IASLC (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer 2. Egyptian Urological Association (Uro-Oncology Section) 3. Egyptian Society of Interventional Radiology – EGSIR.
Together, we are not just discussing the future of cancer care—we are building it.”
