“A lively and constructive exchange in a Brussels hot Summer day dedicated to Mission Early, during the Cancer Patients Europe – CPE General Assembly.
Mission Early is a global initiative advancing early cancer detection and treatment worldwide by uniting cross-sector partners. In its initial years of work, Mission Early has contributed to develop policy evidence, to disseminate best practice and to provide concrete recommendations for policy action to bring the highest possible standard of early cancer care to everyone.
This is fully aligned – and reinforces – the recommendations coming from all major international organizations, like World Health Organization and OECD Social, as well as from the All.Can International Action Guide for Efficient Cancer Care, where ‘timeliness of care’ is the first pillar of an optimal person-centred care pathway. The policy reports presented by RAND Europe and SDA Bocconi University can already be valuable tools for local implementation.
Special thanks here go to Tomislav Sokol MEP for his unwavering commitment, Daniela Moye Holz and Natalia Oprea.
The forthcoming study on the economic benefits of early cancer care is expected in the coming months. Patient advocates have identified gaps and opportunities in national care pathways and systems where our collective engagement will move the needle towards better systems and moreover better health outcomes.
Thanks to Debra Montague, Alina Comanescu, Martin Sweeney, Metka Glas, Goranka Perc.
Mission Early has launched a Call to Action for Better Early Cancer Care, targeted at global cancer policymakers. There are 15 signatories to date, including national and global health organizations, patient advocacy groups and industry partners.
Mission Early encourages all members of the cancer control community to learn more and support the Call for Action: please reach out for further information to Melissa Rendler-Garcia, Antonella Cardone, Dr. Cary Adams, Evaristo Martinez, Alexander Roediger, Joséphine Mosset-Keane, Mădălina Iamandei.”
