“Building integrated, person-centred cancer pathways will deliver timely, coordinated and equitable care. A comprehensive cancer measurement framework is essential to achieving a meaningful progress across the entire continuum of prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and long term outcomes.
This framework should include outcomes that more accurately reflect the lived experience of patients. In times of increasing capacity and workforce constraints, emphasis should be on on ensuring high-value care that contributes to better health outcomes and people’s quality of life. Technological innovation such as AI-assisted screening, molecular diagnostics or robotic-assisted surgery will help direct resources to interventions that deliver value.
