Eduard-Alexandru Bonci: Exploring AI in Breast Cancer with Responsibility and Clinical Context

Eduard-Alexandru Bonci, Editorial Board Member at Discover Journal Series, shared a post on Linkedin:

“Some meetings stay with you…not only because of the science, but because of the people.

Looking back at National Society of Medical Oncology in Romanias ‘Updates in Breast Cancer Management’ conference in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), I feel grateful for two days of meaningful discussions and genuine collegial connection around how we diagnose, treat, and support people with breast cancer.

I was very happy to contribute with a presentation on artificial intelligence (AI) in breast cancer. For me, AI is not a replacement for clinical judgement, but a field that we need to understand, question, and evaluate responsibly always in the context of real patients, real clinical decisions, and multidisciplinary care.

A special thank you to the colleagues and friends who offered guidance, feedback, and encouragement while I was preparing the slides (Maciej Bobowicz, João Santinha, Pedro Gouveia, Matthew Cecchini). Your input helped me shape the presentation.

Thank you to SNOMR and Romanian Young Oncologists for creating such a welcoming and collegial space for exchange, and to the pharmaceutical and industry partners whose support helped make the meeting possible.

Most of all, thank you to the colleagues, friends, mentors, and new connections who made these days so valuable. Reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new people, and continuing conversations beyond the lecture hall are often where the most meaningful ideas and friendships begin.

See you next time!”
