Leading Voices Come Together to End Financial Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors – ECL

Association of European Cancer Leagues shared on LinkedIn:

“Today at the European Parliament, we brought together leading voices on ending financial discrimination against cancer survivors.

Wim Geluykens, Victor Girbu, Suzanne Dowd, Prof. Wim van Harten, MEP Romana Jerković, Emma Modoran and Lise-lott Eriksson: thank you for your expertise, advocacy, and commitment to this issue.

This important conversation should be translated into policy.

The Association of European Cancer Leagues is calling for:

  • A maximum five-year post-treatment period
  • No disclosure requirement after the maximum protection period
  • Expert-led, evidence-based eligibility criteria and national reference grids within a common European framework
  • Address the RTBF gap in mortgage credit at European level

This is what cancer survivors deserve: a common European standard that moves beyond a patchwork of national solutions.
