“It was an incredible day in a room full of passionate young adults at the annual ALCSI summit in Boston, who were there to learn how we can get more people screened for lung cancer. A few of the slides I showed are posted below.
It was crucial to clarify the scary terms used to disparage LCS was originally engineered by special interest groups who brainwashed academic leaders in the 20th century to misled generations of doctors who today struggle to understand the safety of lung screening.
Next, we shed light on the pervasive bias within the halls of certain academic circles where there is almost zero interest in studying the benefits of LCS, despite its safety and efficacy.
We discussed the importance of listening to target populations and how that helps optimally promote a health intervention. I specifically credited Haval Balata for all he’s taught me about this topic and shared frank stories about what doesn’t work with common people at risk.
And I ended with a salute to the lung cancer widower who tirelessly reminds us that we cannot rest and need to change the face of lung cancer now, as so much good happens when we do!”
