Douglas Flora: How Can AI Transform Cancer Care Without Losing the Human Touch?

Douglas Flora, President-Elect at Association of Cancer Care Centers, shared on LinkedIn:

“Excited to begin my term as President of the Association of Cancer Care Centers for 2026–2027

My president’s theme – ‘Humanizing Cancer Care Through AI’ – addresses the administrative and operational burdens facing cancer care teams while championing the thoughtful use of artificial intelligence, precision oncology, and digital health tools to return time to patient care and keep oncology care pace with modern therapies.

Cancer care is at a pivotal crossroads where technological breakthroughs can either add complexity or improve care and enhance the human patient-physician relationship.

Over the next year, ACCC will lead our multi-disciplinary community in adopting tools that support both professionals and patients and ensure high-quality, personalized care reaches every community – regardless of geography or socioeconomic status.

Please consider joining this ACCC community if you’d like to follow this work – we are going to be giving you the ‘nuts and bolts’ as your GPS for AI fluency in your cancer center or practice, whether you lead a giant NCI designate or a small rural practice. Our 2100 cancer centers and nearly 50,000 members cover those and everything in between. Individual members, Cancer Centers Systems, or Corporate memberships are all available here.

My fellow ACCC executive committee members are all amazing cancer fighters, ready to get to work for our members and the patients we all serve.”
